Parking Shots: Pirelli World Challenge, Austin TX

You don’t have to go to many races or car shows to realize that some of the coolest rides that show up are in the parking lot. Enthusiasts tend to leave the mundane daily driver at home and show up in their cooler cars. That being said, here’s the first installment of what will be a regular feature for any event covered here: Parking Shots! Enjoy.

Nicely blacked out G35 Coupe.

I’m not enough of a Porsche fan to tell you much about this one, but it certainly looked nice and track-ready

Wide stance and a big duck-bill spoiler. What’s not to love?

This was my favorite car out there, but I might be biased.

A later model NSX looking gorgeous. Not a color you see very often

Another NB Miata looking ready to tear up some corners.

GMC Syclone. AWD Turbo V6. Not a truck you see very often.

I met the driver of this car at a Rally Cross a few years back (where he took first in the rwd class). I think he enjoys tracking it also.

This 370z must have had cooling problems to necessitate that big radiator…

Of all the super cars I’ve come across, the GTR is the one that makes me stop in my tracks every time.

Great looking NA with lots of JDM stickers and a homemade spoiler.

The battle damaged look just adds to it. The polished hood is a nice touch as well.

It doesn’t seem that long ago when Cadillac’s were seen as second rate luxury cars suited for an older generation. This one looks just evil.

FD on Fikse wheels. Clean and functional.

I have a soft spot for front-engine Porsches. This clean 928 caught my eye from far away.

This Land Rover Turbo Diesel appears to be an authentic Japanese import.

If I’m not mistaken, this is the inspection sticker.

Jaguar XKE. Absolutely stunning.

Easily my favorite NSX that showed up that day.

I love a Subaru with that well-worn look.

By day 2 they were forming packs.

I’ve always loved how the last-gen Prelude looked. Modified examples tend to make the car look worse in my opinion. This is a rare example of someone who improved on what was already a great looking car.
